On Feb. 23, 2026, Michael Hogan, age 78, passed.
Mike's greatest gift was making others laugh and smile. He constantly put other people's comfort at the top of his list, making sure everyone — from new acquaintances to cherished family members — felt welcomed when in the same room. He had an infectious way of brightening up someone's day with his presence alone and got his kicks from seeing others be happy. People fed off his energy when he was around, and it's clear from the stories you hear about him.
Mike's thoughtful and considerate approach to life left a lasting impression on everyone he met, from the days on the soccer fields in West Hempstead to his final days in Commack, where just weeks before his death, he was clearing his neighbors' paths after a snowstorm. He treated everyone as a friend and never had a bad word to say about anyone. Mike's legacy is measured in his character and good nature, which will be emulated by every person who knew him moving forward.
Above all, he was a silly, caring, and devoted husband, father, and grandfather who truly worshipped the family he helped build. The hole he leaves behind is massive because of the love he was able to manufacture with ease on a daily basis, and that will be the guiding light for those who carry on his legacy.
Mike is survived by his wife, Lorraine; sons, Adam and Matt; daughters-in-law, Kim and Nicole; four grandchildren — Charlotte, Cole, James, and Jax — and additional family and friends who will remember him as a great man who helped better the lives of everyone who knew him.
