Michael M. Kolinsky Obituary

Michael “Mickey” Kolinsky
July 28, 1937 – August 21, 2025

Michael “Mickey” Kolinsky, 88, of Williston Park, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2025. Born in Maspeth, Queens, to Marie and John Kolinsky, Mickey was the second of four brothers, all of whom—Johnny, Artie, and Joe—predeceased him.

Mickey was the beloved husband of Ellen, with whom he shared 61 years of marriage, devotion, and love. Together they built a beautiful family and life. He was a devoted father to Michael and his wife Janette, and Janet and her husband Andy, and a treasured “Pa” to his three grandsons, Sean, Ryan, and Connor. He was also a cherished brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, godfather, and friend to many.

A proud graduate of La Salle Academy and St. John’s University, Mickey went on to become a Certified Public Accountant, a career he loved and worked at diligently until his retirement in 2019 at the remarkable age of 82. Known affectionately as “Mickey Numbers,” he was always calculating something in his head and never hesitated to offer financial advice to anyone who asked—or even those who didn’t.

Mickey proudly served in the Army Reserves from 1959 to 1964 and gave back to his community in countless ways. He coached CYO basketball at St. Stanislaus Church in Queens, and for more than five decades was an active member of St. Aidan’s Parish in Williston Park. He volunteered his accounting services, served with the Holy Name Society, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion.

He and Ellen spent their summers at the Williston Park pool, where they could be found daily walking laps and chatting with friends. Throughout the rest of the year, Mickey enjoyed time with the Williston Park Seniors Club, where he reconnected with old friends, made new ones, and enjoyed many games of bingo and bus trips.

Mickey’s life was marked by devotion—to his family, his faith, his community, and his work. He lived with humor, loyalty, and love, leaving behind a legacy that will endure in the hearts of all who knew him.

“Forever, forever, I’ll love you forever, my dear. I’ll always be near.” – Fats Domino
