John M. Small Obituary

John Small, 70, Bronxville, passed peacefully on July 11th, 2025, at home surrounded by family and friends. Born in Williston Park to John and Gloria Small, he was the fourth of eight children ( Frank, Jimmy, Mike (deceased), Maryanne, Chris (deceased), Joe (deceased), and Lorraine). John had a rambunctious childhood that was full of fun and created lifelong memories with neighbors and friends.

He worked as a lather for many years, during which time he was an active member of the Local 46 Iron Workers Union. John was proud of his work and enjoyed pointing out buildings that he had worked on to family and friends. A devout Catholic, John regularly attended 7:30 Sunday Mass at St. Adian’s church, a tradition that continued when he moved to Westchester, where he attended Annunciation Church.

John also greatly enjoyed spending time on the golf course and in the mountains skiing. To him, both activities provided a great mix of being outdoors and spending time with family and friends.

John is survived by his wife, Mary, and three children: April (son-in-law, Gavin), John Michael (daughter-in-law, Catherine), and Rose. He was also a grandfather to three wonderful grandchildren, Brady Rose, John Joseph (JJ), and Robin. John was a man of integrity and believed deeply in the value of hard work and showing kindness to everyone. He loved to make people laugh and pull pranks whenever he could. John shared his light freely with everyone, and the world is a brighter place because of it. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
