Joseph Francis Lavelle of Williston Park NY, born 1951 passed away last week. He was a loving husband to his late wife Anne Lavelle, proud father of Joseph, Brian (Alexandra), Daniel (Rachel), and Alex, and loving grandfather to Shawn, Victoria, Kyle, Christopher, Anthony, and Michael.
He is survived by his siblings Jane, Michael (Christy), Sheilah (Rich), Dolores (Joe), Regina, Carolyn (Don), in-laws Frank Jagusiak, and Teresa, Robert, Eilieen, & Brian McNerney, and loved by 30 nieces and nephews. He is blessed to be reunited with his family in heaven; including wife Anne, son Brian, siblings Kathleen, Diane, MaryLou, and Deirdre, niece Kathleen, and his mother and father, Kathleen & Joseph.
Known for his hard work, Joe began his career as a teller at Reliance Federal Bank and quickly rose up through the ranks due to his uncompromised dedication, business smarts, strong leadership skills, and a bit of plucky stubbornness learned as a lifelong NY Mets fan. This culminated in a successful tenure as Senior Vice President for the Long Island region.
As an avid runner, he counted among his achievements running the Long Island Marathon and is fondly remembered for bringing all of the Lavelle family kids together for a game of wiffle ball or touch football on the streets of Williston Park. He was never one to miss an opportunity to use his quick-witted sense of humor to put a smile on your face.
Joe’s influence, support, and love were felt by many through his words, and most importantly seen in his actions. We are eternally grateful to have had him in our lives and his memory will live on through the impact he’s had on all of us.
We’ll miss you, Joe!
