Jane Eileen Davey, of Williston Park, NY, passed away peacefully in her home on June 24, 2025 at the age of 85. Jane was born on May 26, 1940 in Queens, NY to John and Jane Barnes. Jane graduated from Our Lady of Mercy High School and Mt. Saint Vincent’s College. Jane and her husband of 60 years, Timothy Patrick Davey, raised two sons and a daughter in the home where they lived together for over 50 years. Jane made tremendous contributions to the health and well being of others through her work as a Registered Nurse. Working for both Deepdale Hospital and the Visiting Nurse Service, Jane’s professional life was really a career long commitment to helping other people. Her work as a nurse for over 25 years brought her pride and while bringing care and comfort to others. While important to her, Jane’s work as a nurse was always superseded by her love and devotion to her family. One of five children, Jane was a loyal sibling to James, Josephine and the deceased John and Judith (her twin). Forever a Barnes, Jane maintained a strong relationship with her siblings and their families and could often be found at a great niece or nephew’s special event. Jane’s relationships with her children Timothy J. Davey (spouse Nicolette), Edward M. Davey (spouse Diane) and Veronica A. Davey (spouse Sean Cooney) as well as her seven grandchildren showed her incredible care for her family, the true joy of her life. Her devotion to her children and grandchildren showed through all the actions and experiences of her life. She was never more happy than when sharing time with her husband, children and grandchildren - regardless of the event, she was happy “as long as we were all together”. Whether traveling to a vacation, visiting a family member’s home or hosting her family in Williston Park, these days were some of the happiest of Jane’s life. While career and family took much of Jane’s energy and care, she was a well rounded woman who enjoyed many pursuits. Jane loved going to the beach, playing golf, sewing, walking with friends and taking small actions with church groups and other organizations that led to helping people less fortunate than herself. These passions were often pursued and then celebrated with the enjoyment of some ice cream, her favorite food. Jane Eileen Davey will be missed by her immediate family, her extended family and her wonderful cadre of friends and co-workers. While her loss brings sadness, the sadness is greatly outweighed by the loving memories and relationships Jane created during a life well lived.
