John Patrick Farrelly Obituary
John Patrick Farrelly (Jack), 86, of Williston Park, NY, originally from ‘The Bronx’ passed away peacefully the evening of Friday, June 6, 2025, while in the hospital recovering from a stroke. He was surrounded by his closest family. Jack is the beloved husband of Maureen (deceased 2022). Loving father to Regina, Tara and Maureen. And beloved brother of Edward, Betty (deceased), Tom (deceased) and Frank (deceased).
Jack started his career as a New York City Police Officer in the 69th precinct in Canarsie, Brooklyn. After retiring from the police department in 1981, he went on to obtain his bachelor’s degree followed by two master’s degrees. Always enthusiastic about finance and numbers, he went on to start his own business, Accountax Financial Planners, located in Williston Park. He retired from his business in early 2017. The following years he spent taking care of his now deceased wife, Maureen, who suffered from a stroke and dementia.
Jack loved to travel and took several cruises including his most recent trip to the Mediterranean this past April. He would also take an occasional road trip to Atlantic City where he played the slot machines and enjoyed walking the boardwalk. But mostly he loved spending time with his family. Jack was a terrific cook, an avid reader, a diehard Notre Dame football fan, a movie buff, a music lover especially for his favorite 50’s music and a huge fan of Tweety Bird.
Always quick to smile or crack a joke or just be there to lend a helping hand, Jack always put others first. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends.
