Richard Petito, 81, of Rosedale NY, passed away peacefully, on May 20, 2025, at the Mary Tully Hospice Inn, surrounded by his loving family. Born on July 3, 1943, in the Bronx, Richard lived a life marked by compassion, hard work and devotion to his family and community. He proudly served the City of New York as a foreman and head training supervisor for heavy duty equipment at Randall’s Island with the NYC Department of Sanitation, Union Local 444. Known for his tireless dedication and strong leadership. Richard earned the respect of colleagues and left a lasting impact on those he trained and mentored. Richard is survived by his beloved wife, Anne Marie Petito; his daughters, Anne Marie Frommeyer and her husband Douglas Frommeyer, and Sharon Robinson, and her husband Christopher Robinson; his cherished grandchildren, Christopher, Julia (Nicholas) and Kirsten Frommeyer; and his brother Dennis Petito.
Richard was a friend to everyone he met, always kind, always giving. He would go out of his way to help others, even stopping people in the street to urge them to quit smoking out of genuine care for their health. He was the type of man who would do anything for anyone, and his generosity and warmth touched countless lives. He was a man that gave more than he took.
