Obituary of Kenneth J. Wieczorek
Kenneth J. Wieczorek passed away on April 17, 2025. He was a devoted family man, a loyal friend to many, and a man who took immense pride in his work and in the life he built. He was surrounded by his family at the time of his passing.
Ken is survived by his beloved wife, Diane; his loving three children, Michael, Dana, and Kelly; his future son-in-law, Michael; and his two wonderful grandchildren, Brooks and Kendall, who brought him endless joy. He is also survived by his brother, Robert, and sister-in-law, Maryanne. Ken was known for his beautiful blue eyes, which he passed down to his children and grandchildren — and for his strong handshake, a true reflection of his strength, character and presence.
Ken was deeply committed to his career in carpentry, a craft he not only mastered but truly loved. He worked for many years with the Local 1536 NYC Carpenters Union before continuing his career as a carpenter and foreman for the NYC Department of Education. His dedication and skill left a lasting impression on those he worked with, and he retired in July 2022 at 72 years old, after a long and fulfilling career.
Ken’s passion for carpentry extended far beyond the job site. He played a leading role in building and supervising the construction of his own home in Williston Park, where he lived for the past 26 years. That home stands as a symbol of his craftsmanship, care, and the life he cherished with his family.
Beyond his work, Ken was known for his generous spirit and the joy he brought to those around him. He loved hosting his famous lobster and crab leg dinners, gathering family and friends around the table for good food and great company. He was an avid fisherman and crabber, often taking his children along on those cherished outings as they grew up. A die-hard New York Mets and New York Jets fan, Ken also participated in many yearly golf outings with old friends — moments filled with laughter, competition, and connection that meant so much to him.
Ken and his wife Diane created countless beautiful memories for their children through family vacations to Ocean City, MD, Hershey Park, and Point Pleasant, NJ. He also took great pride in attending every one of his children's sports games, showing up with unwavering support and love. Holidays were especially meaningful to Ken — he went above and beyond to decorate his home and create a festive, welcoming atmosphere that his family will always remember.
Ken accomplished a lot throughout his beautiful life, and his family is extremely grateful for all that he provided and the memories they created together. He will be missed dearly by many, but never forgotten — and his kind spirit will always be in our hearts.
