Obituary of Mildred A. O'Leary
With heavy hearts we want to announce that Mildred O’Leary passed from this Earth and went home to her savior on April 7, 2025 at the age of 93. She is pre-deceased by her husband Charles, who has been waiting for her to join him for over 30 years. Millie is survived by her children Patricia Strauss (Scott), Michael O’Leary (Betty Jane) and Kathleen Siemann (Robert). Millie was fortunate to have many wonderful grandchildren-Matthew O’Leary (Kaitlyn), Justin O’Leary (Christopher), Bryan Strauss (Lia), Lauren Kaufman (Brad), Jennifer Siemann (Jonathon), Christopher Strauss (Megan) and Robert Siemann Jr. Gigi was loved by 6 great grandchildren-Sean, Quinn, Parker, Ariana, Carter and Michael.
Millie was a fiercely independent person and found solace in her faith. Even though she never swam, Millie enjoyed spending time at the beach in Hampton Bays with her extended family and at the Mineola pool with her children. She devoted time to caring for her parents and sister in their later years when illness struck. Millie started as a teller and advanced to assistant branch manager at the bank eventually known as National Westminster. Upon retirement, Millie found joy in volunteering and worked at the Winthrop gift shop for many years. While her bowling average never was anything to brag about, she always said her average helped her team’s handicap. Millie was a Eucharistic Minister at Our Lady of Hope and helped count money at Corpus Christi in her retirement years. She enjoyed traveling with her senior group and her church group. Her yearly visits to Woodloch Pines became one of the highlights of her summers.
