Obituary of Richard M. Perna

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Richard Perna, who passed away peacefully on March 31, 2025. He was surrounded by the love of his life of 45 years, Doreen, at the time of his passing.

Richard is survived by his beloved wife, Doreen, and their three children: Richard Perna Jr., Nicole Nitti, and Anthony Perna. He also leaves behind five cherished grandchildren: Luca Perna, Romeo Perna, Nico Perna, Landon Nitti, and Lennon Nitti. He is also survived by his mother, his two sisters, and his brother.

A native of Brooklyn, Richard carried the spirit and resilience of the city with him throughout his life. Though he spent most of his adult years on Long Island, his Brooklyn roots remained a strong part of his identity. He was a man known for his strength, integrity, and unwavering compassion for those he loved.

For over 30 years, Richard worked as a contractor, where his love for building and creating shone through. Even after retirement, his entrepreneurial spirit thrived as he continued to pursue various small business ventures. A true creative thinker, Richard also enjoyed golfing and took great pride in his many hobbies and projects.

Above all, Richard was a devoted family man and a friend to all. He was always the first to lend a helping hand, showing up with quiet strength and a full heart whenever his loved ones needed him.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 3rd, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and again from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Weigand Brothers Funeral Home, 49 Hillside Ave., Williston Park, NY.

Richard will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew him.
