Obituary of Eva M. Porte
Eva Margarete Porte passed away on Sunday, February 16th, 2025. She was a devoted wife to Wolfgang, loving mother to her daughter, Christine and proud Oma to her grandsons, Jack and Ryan. Born August 1,1939 in Hanover, Germany to Robert and Margerete Kusch, Eva was the eldest of two children. Eva and Wolfgang were married April 8th,1961 and immigrated to the United States in June of 1961, in search of a better life and opportunities. After living in Ridgewood, New York for 2 years, Wolfgang was drafted during the Vietnam War and wound up being stationed back in Frankfurt, Germany where Eva followed so that they could be together during his 2 years of service. Returning to the States in 1963, Eva worked at New York University as the assistant to the Dean of the Graduate School of Business. In 1973, Eva and Wolfgang bought a house in Mineola, New York where Eva enjoyed volunteering at her daughter's elementary school and Long Island Lutheran High School and was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. Eva enjoyed playing tennis with friends, skiing and hiking with Wolfgang and Christine and loved spending hours gardening. Eva is survived by her husband, Wolfgang, daughter Christine, son-in-law Mike, grandsons Jack and Ryan. She is also survived by her brother Werner and wife Wendy, nephews, Christian and Sebastian, brother-in-law Gerhardt and nephews Mattias and Andreas and niece Sabine.
