Obituary of Dorothy Vendetti

Obituary of Dorothy Vendetti      1924-2025

On February 14th, 2025, in her 101st year, Dororty Vendetti, the matriarch of the Vendetti family peacefully moved onto Heaven. Known to her many nieces and nephews as Aunt Dolly and to her brother and sisters as Dotty.

Dorothy was born on July 14th, 1924 in Brooklyn and moved to Queens where she lived with her parents Madeline and Dominic and her brother Rev. Father Michael Vendetti. Caring for them until they were called home into Heaven. Dorothy was a devoted loving daughter, sister, and aunt. She enjoyed spending time with her family and was always ready to lend a helping hand to her sisters and their children. She was not much of a sports fan but she loved watching the ball games with her brother and they would talk about the players and the game. She enjoyed watching her nieces and nephews grow up and having families of their own and hearing stories of all the great-nieces and great-nephews. She took an interest in everyone's life and would alway ask how everyone was.

Dorothy had a strong Catholic faith. Attending Mass daily with her brother Rev. Michael Vendetti and said the rosary everyday. Adding intentions for her nieces, nephews, brother, sisters and parents. She was devoted to Saint Teresa, patron saint of the ill. Prior to her kidney surgery due to cancer, she prayed to Saint Teresa and woke up after the surgery to see a single rose next to her, never knowing where the rose came from. A symbol that Saint Teresa had answered her prayers and she would be fine.

Dorothy loved to sew and often made her own clothes. She enjoyed traveling and would take her nieces/nephews with her. Giving them the opportunity to explore new places and creating fond memories with her. One of her favorite places to take them was the World’s Fair at Flushing Meadows-Corona Park in Queens; you could find her there every Friday.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Dominic and Madeline Vendetti; her sisters, Mary Magaldi and Madeline Kaufmann; and her

brother, Rev. Father Michael Vendetti. Survived by her nieces, Angela Schlosser, and Mary Sherry; her nephews, Francis Magaldi, Gerard Magaldi, Thomas Magaldi, John Magaldi, Joseph Magaldi, Robert Kaufmann, and Michael Kaufmann.

Dorothy, beloved daughter, sister, and aunt, will be deeply missed but it is a great comfort knowing that she is now home in heaven.

A Funeral Mass will be held at the Church of Saint Aidan, 505 Willis Avenue, Williston Park, New York on Wednesday, February 19th at 10:00 Am.
